get_submix_effect_chain

Read-onlyIdempotent

Read a USoundSubmix asset's effect chain in order, showing each slot's effect name, class and path plus the chain length. Read-only; verify before appending effects.

Instructions

Read the effect chain of a USoundSubmix asset in order: one entry per slot with the name, class and path of its USoundEffectSubmixPreset ("None" for an empty slot), plus chain_length. Read-only; add_submix_effect_to_chain appends to it.

Returns: { submix_path: string, effects: [object], chain_length: int }

TDQS

A4.3/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnly, idempotent and non-destructive. The description adds genuine behavioral context beyond them: the chain is returned in slot order, empty slots are represented as 'None', and chain_length is provided. Return structure is also described since no output schema exists.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Two tightly written sentences: the verb and resource are front-loaded, followed by the return shape. Every clause carries information (ordering, empty-slot sentinel, length field) and nothing is padded.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With no output schema, the description supplies the full return contract (submix_path, effects array, chain_length) and the read-only framing. Nothing needed to call this correctly is missing.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100% for the single submix_path parameter, including a concrete example path. The description adds no syntax or format detail beyond the schema, so the baseline 3 is appropriate.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb (Read) and resource (the effect chain of a USoundSubmix asset), plus the ordering guarantee and per-slot content (name, class, path, 'None' for empty). An agent can distinguish this read tool from the write-oriented add_submix_effect_to_chain without opening either schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

It explicitly names the alternative sibling add_submix_effect_to_chain and its relation (appends to the chain), making the read-vs-write split clear. It stops short of stating when-to-use conditions or prerequisites, but the context is unambiguous.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
