List Specification Uploads

list_specification_uploads
Read-onlyIdempotent

Retrieve a paginated list of specification uploads for a project. Filter by status or specification set ID to locate specific uploads and their IDs.

Instructions

List the Specification Uploads in a Project. Use this to enumerate Specifications when you need a paginated overview, to find IDs, or to filter by query parameters. Returns a paginated JSON array of Specifications. Use page and per_page to control pagination; the response includes pagination metadata. Required parameters: project_id. Procore API: Project Management > Specifications. Endpoint: GET /rest/v1.0/projects/{project_id}/specification_uploads

Input Schema

TableJSON Schema
NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
project_idYesURL path parameter — the ID of the project to upload to
pageNoQuery string parameter — page number for paginated results (default: 1)
per_pageNoQuery string parameter — number of items per page (default: 100, max: 100)
filters__statusNoQuery string parameter — return item(s) with the specified status.
filters__specification_set_idNoQuery string parameter — return items with the specified set ID.
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already indicate readOnlyHint=true and idempotentHint=true. The description adds context that it returns a paginated JSON array with metadata and specifies the API endpoint. No contradictions; provides additional useful behavioral details beyond annotations.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Four sentences, each contributing unique information: purpose, usage, response details, and technical context. No redundant or extraneous text. Front-loaded with the main action. Excellent conciseness.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Given the 5 parameters, full schema descriptions, and no output schema, the description covers return format (paginated JSON array with metadata) and endpoint. It does not detail error handling or specific filters, but the schema handles those. Overall sufficient.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Input schema has 100% description coverage, but the description adds value by explaining the purpose of page/per_page for pagination and that response includes pagination metadata. It also highlights required project_id. This supplements the schema well.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description clearly states the tool lists Specification Uploads in a Project, with specific use cases (paginated overview, find IDs, filter). It mentions required parameter and API endpoint, making the purpose unambiguous and distinct from sibling list tools.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

The description provides clear usage guidance: when to use (enumerate specs, paginated overview, find IDs, filter), mentions required parameter, and explains pagination control. However, it does not explicitly state when not to use or mention alternatives, so it's slightly less than perfect.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
