List Checklist List Responsible Contractor Filter Options

list_checklist_list_responsible_contractor_filter_options
Read-onlyIdempotent

Retrieve paginated filter options for responsible contractors on inspections using company ID and project ID. Supports search by name and optional filters for inspection type grouping and recycle bin views.

Instructions

Returns responsible contractors associated to inspections with pagination and optional search. Use this to enumerate Inspections when you need a paginated overview, to find IDs, or to filter by query parameters. Returns a JSON array of available filter values for Inspections. Required parameters: company_id, project_id. Procore API (v2.0): Project Management > Inspections. Endpoint: GET /rest/v2.0/companies/{company_id}/projects/{project_id}/inspections/responsible_contractors

Behavior3/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations (readOnlyHint=true, idempotentHint=true) already indicate the tool is safe and read-only. The description adds pagination and search features but does not disclose additional behavioral traits like potential empty results or permission requirements.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The description is concise with three sentences, front-loading the purpose. Including the API endpoint may be unnecessary but does not significantly harm conciseness.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness3/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Without an output schema, the description should hint at the structure of the returned filter values (e.g., objects with id and name). It says 'JSON array of available filter values' but lacks detail. Also, stating 'enumerate Inspections' is slightly misleading since the tool returns filter options, not inspections directly.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so the baseline is 3. The description does not add meaning beyond what the schema already provides, such as explaining how 'query' filters by name or the relationship between parameters.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description clearly states it returns responsible contractors as filter options for inspections, with pagination and search. However, it does not differentiate from the sibling tool 'list_checklist_list_responsible_contractor_filter_options_2', which likely has a similar purpose.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

The description provides explicit usage scenarios: 'enumerate Inspections when you need a paginated overview, to find IDs, or to filter by query parameters.' It does not mention when not to use it or alternative tools, but the context is clear.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
