Get Environmental Type Filter Options

get_environmental_type_filter_options
Read-onlyIdempotent

Retrieve environmental type filter options for incident environmental records in a Procore project. Use the returned values to build filter controls.

Instructions

Returns environmental types in use for filtering environmental records. Use this to fetch the full details of a specific Incidents by its identifier. Returns a JSON array of available filter values for Incidents. Required parameters: project_id. Procore API: Project Management > Incidents. Endpoint: GET /rest/v1.0/projects/{project_id}/incidents/environmentals/filter_options/environmental_types

Input Schema

TableJSON Schema
NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
project_idYesURL path parameter — unique identifier for the project.
pageNoPage number for paginated results (default: 1)
per_pageNoNumber of items per page (default: 100, max: 100)
Behavior3/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint=true and idempotentHint=true. The description adds that it returns a JSON array and requires project_id, but also contains a misleading statement suggesting it fetches incident details. While the annotations cover the safety profile, the description's error could cause confusion about the tool's behavior.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness3/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The description is relatively concise but includes an irrelevant and incorrect sentence that wastes space. It could be more efficient by focusing solely on the filter options purpose. The structure is reasonable but not exemplary.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness3/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Given the tool's low complexity and no output schema, the description vaguely states returns a JSON array of filter values but does not explain the format or what the values represent. The misleading incident line detracts from completeness. It is adequate but could be more informative.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Input schema description coverage is 100%, so the schema already documents all parameters. The description reiterates that project_id is required but adds no additional meaning about page or per_page parameters. Baseline 3 is appropriate since the schema does the heavy lifting.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose3/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description states it returns environmental types for filtering, which is the main purpose. However, it also includes a misleading sentence about fetching incident details ('Use this to fetch the full details of a specific Incidents by its identifier'), which conflicts with the tool's actual function and reduces clarity. The purpose is discernible but muddied by contradictory information.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines2/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

The description does not provide explicit guidance on when to use this tool versus alternative filter options tools (e.g., 'get_affliction_type_filter_options'). The sentence about fetching incident details is incorrect and could lead to misuse. No when-not-to-use or alternative suggestions are given.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
