List Responses In The Specified Item Response Set

list_responses_in_the_specified_item_response_set
Read-onlyIdempotent

List responses in a specified item response set. Filter by corresponding status and sort results to find specific responses.

Instructions

List Responses in the Specified Item Response Set. Use this to enumerate Inspections when you need a paginated overview, to find IDs, or to filter by query parameters. Returns a paginated JSON array of Inspections. Use page and per_page to control pagination; the response includes pagination metadata. Required parameters: company_id, response_set_id. Procore API: Project Management > Inspections. Endpoint: GET /rest/v1.0/companies/{company_id}/checklist/item/response_sets/{response_set_id}/responses

Input Schema

TableJSON Schema
NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
company_idYesURL path parameter — unique identifier for the company.
response_set_idYesURL path parameter — the ID of the Response Set
filters__corresponding_statusNoQuery string parameter — array of Corresponding Statuses. Return item(s) with the specified Corresponding Statuses - 'yes', 'no', or 'n/a'.
sortNoQuery string parameter — sort order for results. Prefix with '-' for descending order
pageNoPage number for paginated results (default: 1)
per_pageNoNumber of items per page (default: 100, max: 100)
Behavior3/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint=true, destructiveHint=false, idempotentHint=true, and openWorldHint=true, which are consistent with a list operation. The description adds that the response includes pagination metadata but does not disclose any additional behavioral traits. No contradictions with annotations.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The description is concise with three main sentences plus a line for API details. It is front-loaded with the purpose, then usage, then technical details. The inclusion of the endpoint path is useful but slightly redundant. Overall, it is appropriately structured and not verbose.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness2/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Despite the description mentioning pagination, it incorrectly states that the tool returns 'Inspections' instead of 'Responses'. This is a significant error given the lack of an output schema, as the agent needs to know the correct resource type being listed. It does not describe the structure of a response object or clarify that it lists response options within a response set.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

The input schema has 100% coverage for its 6 parameters, so the schema already describes each parameter. The description adds context that page and per_page control pagination and mentions required parameters (company_id, response_set_id). This adds marginal value beyond the schema.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose3/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description clearly states the verb 'List' and the resource 'Responses in the Specified Item Response Set', but then inaccurately says to 'enumerate Inspections', which is misleading and reduces clarity. The title and input schema indicate it deals with response sets, not inspections directly.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

The description provides some usage context (e.g., for a paginated overview, to find IDs, or to filter by query parameters) but does not differentiate from sibling tools like list_item_response_sets or create_a_response. It mentions pagination and filtering, which is helpful, but lacks explicit when-not-to-use guidance.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
