hermes_product_recommendations

Fetch a Hermès product's recommended items, including similar and styled-with shelves with price, stock, and image, by SKU.

Instructions

Get a Hermès product's recommended items. Returns the cross-sell shelves Hermès shows on a product page: "keep exploring" (similar items) and "perfect partner" (items styled with it), each a list of products with price, stock and image. Takes the same sku forms as hermes-product. A product Hermès offers no recommendations for returns an empty shelves list rather than an error.

TDQS

A4/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

With no annotations, the description carries the full burden and does notably well: it discloses the return shape (shelves, each a list of products with price, stock and image) and the important edge case that products with no recommendations return an empty shelves list rather than an error. It omits auth/locale-behavior details, but the non-error contract is a valuable, non-obvious disclosure.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Three sentences, front-loaded with purpose, then return contents, then the edge-case behavior. Every sentence carries distinct information with no repetition.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a two-parameter read tool with no output schema, the description covers what is returned, the shelf semantics, and the empty-result contract. It is essentially complete; only locale behavior and any auth expectations are unaddressed.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so both sku and locale are already documented in the schema. The description only restates the sku convention (same forms as hermes-product), adding no information beyond the schema, so the baseline 3 applies.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb (Get) and resource (a Hermès product's recommended items), then names the concrete artifacts returned ("keep exploring" and "perfect partner" shelves). This clearly distinguishes it from hermes_product and hermes_search.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

The description implies usage (you have a sku and want cross-sell recommendations) and ties it to hermes-product for sku forms, but never says when to use this versus hermes_product, hermes_products, or hermes_search, nor any exclusions. Usage is implied rather than stated.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
