List tickets

get_tickets
Read-onlyIdempotent

List Freshservice tickets newest first, with optional filters by type, requester email or ID, predefined views, and updated-since date. Returns the last 30 days by default.

Instructions

List tickets (newest first). Without a filter or updated_since, only the last 30 days are returned.

For arbitrary conditions (status, priority, agent, group, dates, custom fields) use filter_tickets.

TDQS

A4.5/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare the tool is read-only, idempotent, open-world, and non-destructive. The description adds useful behavioral context: results are newest first and default to a 30-day window unless filter or updated_since is provided. It does not discuss pagination or rate limits, but those are secondary here.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The description is two short sentences with no waste. The default scoping rule is front-loaded, and the alternative-tool guidance follows immediately.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Given rich annotations, 100% schema description coverage, and an output schema, the description provides the essential selection and scoping information an agent needs. It does not need to repeat return-value or parameter details already covered structurally.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so parameter meanings are already well documented. The description adds the interaction between filter and updated_since in determining the 30-day default window, but does not provide additional detail on page, include, workspace_id, or the filter enum values.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description states a specific verb and resource ('List tickets') and adds important scope ('newest first'). It explicitly distinguishes the tool from the sibling filter_tickets, so an agent can choose between them without opening either schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

It clearly states the default behavior when no filter or updated_since is supplied and explicitly routes arbitrary-condition queries to filter_tickets. This gives both when-to-use and when-to-use-an-alternative guidance.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
