Delete SimpleLogin Mailbox

alias_delete_mailbox
Destructive

Delete a mailbox and optionally move its aliases to another mailbox. Requires explicit confirmation to proceed.

Instructions

Delete a destination mailbox. Optionally transfer its aliases to another mailbox (transferAliasesTo = that mailbox id); omit to delete those aliases too. The default mailbox cannot be deleted. Destructive: requires { confirmed: true }.

account_idNoOptional account ID to route this call to (multi-account configs). Omit to use the active account. Configured account IDs are listed in the settings UI (Accounts tab).

Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Discloses destructive nature and adds context about confirmation requirement and alias transfer behavior, complementing the destructiveHint annotation.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Two efficient sentences front-load purpose, then options and constraints; no wasted words.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Covers all key behaviors, constraints, and parameter roles for a delete operation; output schema exists so return details are not needed.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Adds meaning beyond schema by explaining transferAliasesTo behavior and confirmed requirement; schema covers 75% of parameters.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

Clear verb 'Delete' and resource 'destination mailbox', distinguishes from sibling 'alias_delete' which deletes an alias, not a mailbox.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

States when to use (delete mailbox) and optional transfer behavior, plus constraint that default mailbox cannot be deleted, but lacks explicit 'use instead of' guidance.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
