Add SimpleLogin Mailbox

alias_create_mailbox

Add a new destination mailbox to SimpleLogin for email forwarding. The mailbox requires manual verification via a link sent by email.

Instructions

Add a new destination mailbox to SimpleLogin. NOTE: SimpleLogin emails a verification link to the address; the mailbox stays unusable (verified:false) until a human clicks it — the agent cannot complete verification.

Input Schema

TableJSON Schema

emailYesEmail address of the new mailbox
account_idNoOptional account ID to route this call to (multi-account configs). Omit to use the active account. Configured account IDs are listed in the settings UI (Accounts tab).

Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

The description reveals critical behavioral details beyond annotations: verification email is sent, mailbox remains unusable until human clicks link. This adds significant value as annotations only indicate non-read-only and non-destructive. No contradiction.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The description is extremely concise with two sentences. The first sentence states the purpose, the second provides crucial usage caveat. Every word is meaningful and front-loaded.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Given full schema coverage, annotations, and presence of output schema, the description is complete. It adds essential context about the verification process that the schema and annotations do not cover.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100% and both parameters (email, account_id) are already described in the schema. The description does not add any additional parameter-specific information. Baseline score of 3 is appropriate due to high schema coverage.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description clearly states 'Add a new destination mailbox to SimpleLogin' with a specific verb and resource. It distinguishes from sibling tools that create aliases (contacts, custom, random) by focusing on mailbox creation.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

The description provides explicit guidance by noting that the mailbox requires human verification and that the agent cannot complete it. This informs when the tool is useful and its limitations. However, it does not explicitly contrast with alternative tools for mailbox management.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
