reverse_audio_clip

Destructive

Select and reverse an exact Session or Arrangement audio clip in Ableton Live's Clip View, changing source and warp placement after verifying decoded frames.

Instructions

Reverse one exact Session or Arrangement audio clip through macOS English Live's Clip View. Requires a saved Set, unique clip name, stopped/unarmed/unfrozen state, PCM/FLAC source up to 60 seconds/64 MiB and ffmpeg. Selects the clip, changes its source and native timing/warp placement. Verifies decoded reverse frames and unchanged original source bytes; does not verify envelope contents or audible outcome. Partial work retained; never replay automatically. All profile; updated bridge.

TDQS

A4.4/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare destructive and non-idempotent behavior, while the description adds substantive detail: source and native timing/warp placement are changed, verification covers decoded frames and original source bytes but not envelopes or audible outcome, and partial work is retained with no automatic replay. This is consistent with the annotations and materially useful.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The description is dense and front-loaded with purpose, prerequisites, behavior, and verification caveats. The trailing phrase 'All profile; updated bridge' is cryptic and does not clearly earn its place, keeping it below a 5.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a complex destructive operation, it covers prerequisites, state constraints, source limitations, mutation scope, verification limits, and partial-failure behavior. Output schema exists, so return value detail need not be repeated in the description.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so parameter meanings are already documented in the schema. The description adds prerequisite context but does not explain dryRun, planHash, confirmationToken, or expectedStateVersion beyond the schema, so baseline 3 applies.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource: reverse one exact Session or Arrangement audio clip via Clip View. The scope and single-clip restriction distinguish it from broader clip mutation tools without requiring schema inspection.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Provides detailed prerequisites: saved Set, unique clip name, stopped/unarmed/unfrozen state, PCM/FLAC source limits, and ffmpeg availability. It does not explicitly name sibling alternatives or task-level when-not guidance, but the operational constraints are clear.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
