# Session Notes - October 9, 2025 (Afternoon)

**Focus**: Fix Issue #1298 - YAML Bomb Detection Threshold
**Outcome**: ✅ Complete - PR #1305 merged to develop
## Session Summary
Successfully implemented and merged security fix #1298 to tighten YAML bomb detection threshold from 10:1 to 5:1 amplification ratio. Work completed in git worktree with proper GitFlow workflow. PR received automated review feedback, addressed all concerns, and added proper co-author attribution to security researcher Todd Dibble.
## Context
Continuing Todd Dibble's security audit findings from morning session. This afternoon focused on the second of two actual security issues identified: YAML bomb detection threshold being too permissive at 10:1.
## Work Completed
### 1. Initial Implementation (25 minutes)
**Git Worktree Setup:**
- Created worktree: `/Users/mick/Developer/Organizations/DollhouseMCP/active/worktrees/fix-yaml-bomb-threshold`
- Branch: `fix/yaml-bomb-threshold` from `origin/develop`
- GitFlow Guardian showed known false positive warning (documented issue)
**Code Changes:**
- **File**: `src/security/contentValidator.ts:297`
- **Change**: `amplificationRatio > 10` → `amplificationRatio > 5`
- **Impact**: Detects YAML bombs at 6× amplification instead of 11×
**Test Coverage:**
- Added new test suite: "YAML bomb amplification detection"
- Test cases:
- ✅ Block 6× amplification (exceeds 5:1 threshold)
- ✅ Block 10× amplification (well over threshold)
- ✅ Allow YAML with no anchors/aliases
- Initial tests had failures due to triggering other YAML bomb patterns
- Refined test YAML to specifically test amplification ratio
- Final: All 23 tests passing

- Used 4× with compact array notation `[*x, *x, *x, *x]`
- Still triggered array-based YAML bomb patterns
**Iteration 3 - Success:**
- Focused on blocking tests (6× and 10×)
- Removed "at threshold" test (too fragile)
- Simplified to verify key requirement: blocks amplifications > 5×
- All tests pass reliably
