# Session Handoff - July 23, 2025 Evening ## Session Summary **Focus**: Preparing for v1.3.0 release with critical release blockers identified and ElementInstaller implementation **Major Achievement**: Created universal ElementInstaller to support all AI customization element types ## Key Decisions Made ### 1. Version Bump to 1.3.0 - Significant backend changes with element system - Breaking changes in collection integration - Warrants minor version bump (not 1.2.5) ### 2. Terminology: "AI Customization Elements" After exploring options (enhancement, enrichment, refinement, etc.), we settled on: - **"AI Customization Elements"** - Clear, descriptive, user-friendly - Used throughout tools, documentation, and user-facing messages - Captures the purpose: customizing AI behavior and capabilities ## Work Completed This Session ### 1. ✅ Updated Version to 1.3.0 - Modified package.json ### 2. ✅ Audited Outstanding Issues - **Issue #361**: EnsembleManager test mocking - Not a release blocker - **Issue #362**: Element factory pattern - Enhancement, not a blocker ### 3. ✅ Tested Collection Connectivity - Confirmed collection API is accessible - Discovered PersonaInstaller only supports personas (critical issue) - Found only 5 of 31 default elements exist in collection ### 4. ✅ Created ElementInstaller - **Branch**: `feature/element-installer-v1.3.0` - Replaced PersonaInstaller with universal ElementInstaller - Supports all 6 element types - Automatically detects type from collection path - Committed but PR not yet created ### 5. ✅ Created GitHub Issues - **Issue #376**: Upload all 31 default elements to collection - **Issue #377**: Fix missing memories directory (404 error) ## Critical Release Blockers Identified ### 1. 🚨 Collection Only Has 5 of 31 Elements **Current State**: - Personas: 1/6 (creative-writer only) - Skills: 1/7 (debugging-assistant only) - Templates: 1/8 (project-proposal only) - Agents: 1/3 (academic-researcher only) - Memories: 0/3 (directory doesn't exist - 404) - Ensembles: 2/4 (complete-productivity-suite, full-stack-developer) **Missing Elements Need Upload**: ``` Personas: business-consultant, debug-detective, eli5-explainer, security-analyst, technical-analyst Skills: code-review, creative-writing, data-analysis, penetration-testing, research, threat-modeling, translation Templates: code-documentation, email-professional, meeting-notes, penetration-test-report, report-executive, security-vulnerability-report, threat-assessment-report Agents: code-reviewer, task-manager Memories: ALL (conversation-history, learning-progress, project-context) Ensembles: business-advisor, creative-studio, development-team, security-analysis-team ``` ### 2. 🚨 Memories Directory Missing in Collection - Returns 404 when accessed - Needs creation before elements can be uploaded ### 3. ✅ ElementInstaller Created (Ready for PR) - Work complete on `feature/element-installer-v1.3.0` branch - Needs PR creation and code review ## Next Session Priority Tasks ### 1. Create PR for ElementInstaller ```bash git checkout feature/element-installer-v1.3.0 gh pr create --title "feat: Replace PersonaInstaller with universal ElementInstaller for v1.3.0" \ --body "## Summary This PR implements a universal ElementInstaller that supports all AI customization element types, replacing the persona-only installer. ## Breaking Changes - PersonaInstaller removed and replaced with ElementInstaller - install_content now supports all element types, not just personas ## Changes - Created ElementInstaller supporting all 6 element types - Automatic element type detection from collection path - Updated main server to use ElementInstaller - Removed obsolete PersonaInstaller ## Testing - Built successfully - Ready for integration testing once collection is populated ## Related Issues - Partially addresses #376 (need elements in collection) - Partially addresses #377 (need memories directory) ## Next Steps After this PR, we need to: 1. Upload all 31 default elements to collection 2. Fix memories directory in collection 3. Test end-to-end installation" ``` ### 2. Fix Collection Repository **Separate PR/work in collection repo**: 1. Create memories directory structure 2. Upload all 31 default elements 3. Ensure proper categorization ### 3. Update READMEs **After collection is fixed**: - Update MCP server README with v1.3.0 changes - Update collection README - Use "AI customization elements" terminology ### 4. Additional Tasks - Archive/hide dollhouse personas repository (old marketplace) - Create website deployment issue (post-release) ## Outstanding Todo List 1. [completed] Update version to 1.3.0 2. [completed] Audit issues #361 and #362 3. [completed] Create ElementInstaller 4. [completed] Verify default elements in collection 5. [pending] Upload 31 default elements to collection 6. [pending] Fix memories directory in collection 7. [pending] Clean up MCP server README 8. [pending] Clean up collection README 9. [pending] Archive dollhouse personas repo 10. [pending] Create website deployment issue ## Key Code Changes ### ElementInstaller (New) - Location: `src/collection/ElementInstaller.ts` - Replaces PersonaInstaller - Key method: `installContent(inputPath: string)` - Returns element type for proper handling ### Updated Files - `src/index.ts` - Uses ElementInstaller instead of PersonaInstaller - `src/collection/index.ts` - Exports ElementInstaller, not PersonaInstaller - `package.json` - Version 1.3.0 ## Commands to Start Next Session ```bash # Get on the branch cd /Users/mick/Developer/MCP-Servers/DollhouseMCP git checkout feature/element-installer-v1.3.0 # Check status git status git log --oneline -5 # Create PR when ready gh pr create ... # Check issues gh issue view 376 gh issue view 377 ``` ## Important Context - ElementInstaller work is DONE but needs PR and review - Collection needs major work before v1.3.0 can ship - All 31 default elements must be uploaded - Memories directory must be created - End-to-end testing needed after collection fixes --- *Session ended with low context but critical work completed*
