pmg_quarantine_spam

List quarantined spam messages from Proxmox Mail Gateway. Allows review of spam entries before taking actions like delivery or deletion.

Instructions

List PMG quarantined spam messages (read). Needs PROXIMO_PMG_* config.

PMG 9.1 live-verified: endpoint is /quarantine/spam (not /quarantine/mails). For virus quarantine use pmg_quarantine_virus; for attachment use pmg_quarantine_attachment. To act on quarantined messages (deliver/delete/mark-seen/blocklist/welcomelist) use pmg_quarantine_action.

Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

No annotations provided, so description carries full burden. It declares read operation and mentions configuration requirement. It does not detail pagination or other traits, but the output schema is present, reducing need. Adequate but not exhaustive.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Description is brief, front-loaded with main purpose, and every sentence adds value: purpose, prerequisites, sibling differentiation, and alternate tool. No wasted words.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With output schema present and good sibling references, description covers all necessary context: what it does, prerequisites, and when to use alternatives. Complete for a simple list tool.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100%, so parameter meaning is already in schema. Description does not add extra semantics to the sole parameter, only mentions config requirement. Baseline score 3.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description clearly states 'List PMG quarantined spam messages (read)', specifying the verb and resource. It distinguishes from siblings like pmg_quarantine_virus and pmg_quarantine_attachment by naming them.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

The description provides explicit when-to-use (for listing spam), and directs to alternative tools for virus, attachment, and actions (pmg_quarantine_action). This helps the agent choose correctly.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
