get_analytics_group_mcp

Read-onlyIdempotent

Retrieve a paginated per-MCP-server analytics breakdown with request counts to identify high-traffic MCP servers; Enterprise plans only.

Instructions

Get a paginated per-MCP-server breakdown with total_groups, group_count, and an mcp_servers array containing each server name and its request count. Use this to see which MCP servers receive the most traffic; use get_analytics_group_a2a for A2A agents or get_analytics_group_users and get_analytics_group_models for other breakdowns. Enterprise-gated. Returns 403 on non-Enterprise Portkey plans.

TDQS

A4.5/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnly/idempotent/non-destructive, so safety is covered. The description adds genuinely non-obvious behavioral context: it is Enterprise-gated and returns 403 on non-Enterprise plans. Pagination is only loosely mentioned via 'paginated' with no page/size hints, keeping it short of a 5.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loads the return shape, then usage, then routing alternatives, then the gating caveat. Every sentence carries distinct information with no filler.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a complex 33-param tool with an output schema, the description supplies the missing pieces the structured data does not: purpose, sibling routing, and the Enterprise/403 access constraint. Nothing an agent needs to invoke it correctly is absent.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100% across 33 parameters, so the schema fully documents filtering, alias, and time-range semantics. The description adds no parameter-level meaning beyond that baseline.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb (Get), a specific resource (per-MCP-server breakdown), and names the exact output fields (total_groups, group_count, mcp_servers array). It explicitly distinguishes itself from sibling breakdown tools, so an agent can select it without opening the schema.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Explicitly states the use case ('see which MCP servers receive the most traffic') and routes to named alternatives (get_analytics_group_a2a for A2A agents, get_analytics_group_users/_models for other breakdowns). When-to-use and alternatives are both covered.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
