Move DataLens collections

datalens_collections_move_bulk

Move multiple DataLens collections to a target parent or to root in one call. The operation is all-or-none: if any collection already sits in the destination, none move.

Instructions

Move several collections into another one, or into the root when none is given.

All or none: if one collection already lies in the destination, the API answers 409 and moves none of them.

TDQS

A3.8/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations cover the safety profile (non-readonly, non-destructive, non-idempotent, open world), and the description adds genuinely non-obvious behavior: atomic all-or-nothing semantics and a 409 when any collection already sits in the destination. That conflict/atomicity disclosure is real value the annotations cannot convey.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Two short sentences; the core action is front-loaded and the atomicity caveat is a tightly packed second clause. No filler.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a 2-parameter mutation with no output schema, the description supplies the two things an agent most needs: destination default and failure semantics. It lacks any note on permissions or limits on batch size, but nothing critical is missing for correct invocation.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100% and both parameters are documented there, including the root default for parent_id. The description only restates that default ("into the root when none is given"), adding no syntax, id format, or batch-limit detail beyond the schema.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource (move collections, plural/bulk) and the destination semantics (another collection or the root). It implicitly separates itself from the single-item sibling datalens_collections_move, but never names it, so an agent must infer the distinction from the name.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

The description implies the bulk use case ("several collections") but gives no explicit when-to-use versus when-to-use-the-single-move rule, nor any prerequisite/permission guidance. Usage is inferable rather than stated.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
