zscaler_enable_toolset

Read-only

Activates a registered toolset for the session, making its tools callable. Reports entitlement errors if access is denied.

Instructions

Activate a toolset that was registered but not loaded at startup, so its tools become callable for the rest of the session. Refuses with status 'not_entitled' if the toolset belongs to a product the configured OneAPI credentials cannot access — in that case, report the result to the user and do not retry.

Behavior1/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

The description says 'Activate a toolset' which is a mutation (changing session state), but the annotation declares readOnlyHint=true. This is a direct contradiction, as the tool is not read-only. The description does not disclose any behavioral traits beyond that; it does not mention side effects, permissions, or other consequences.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The description consists of two succinct sentences. Each sentence provides distinct information: the action and condition for use, and the error case with user guidance. No unnecessary words or repetition.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Given the tool has only one parameter and an output schema (context states 'Has output schema: true'), the description adequately covers the activation scenario, condition for use, and error handling. It lacks details on success response or what happens after activation, but the output schema likely covers that.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters2/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

The input schema has 0% description coverage for the sole parameter 'toolset'. The description only references the concept of a toolset as 'registered but not loaded at startup', but does not explain acceptable values, format, or sources. This adds minimal meaning beyond the parameter name.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description clearly states the tool's purpose: 'Activate a toolset that was registered but not loaded at startup, so its tools become callable for the rest of the session.' The verb 'Activate' and resource 'toolset' are specific and the context distinguishes it from listing or getting tools.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

The description explicitly states when to use the tool (for registered but not loaded toolsets) and what error case to expect ('not_entitled') with handling instructions. However, it does not mention alternatives or when not to use it, though sibling tools exist (e.g., zscaler_list_toolsets).

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
