save_process_preset

Saves a project's process setting changes as a Bambu Studio user process preset, so you can reuse layer, wall, infill, and speed settings across projects. Set replace to update an existing preset.

Instructions

Save this project's process changes (layer height, walls, infill, speeds, brim, supports, ironing...: the set_setting changes that belong to the process) as a Bambu Studio user process preset, a child of the project's process preset, like Save as in Bambu Studio. replace=True updates your user preset with that name (a backup copy is kept). It appears after Bambu Studio restarts.

TDQS

A3.9/5.0
Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

With no annotations provided, the description carries the full burden and discloses meaningful behavior: this is a mutation that writes a user preset, replace=True keeps a backup copy, and the preset only appears after Bambu Studio restarts. It does not cover failure modes or permission prerequisites, which keeps it from a 5.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The description is front-loaded with the core action and scoping, followed by the replace behavior and restart caveat. It is somewhat long and the parenthetical settings list could be trimmed, but every sentence contributes useful context.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a two-parameter mutation tool with no annotations and no output schema, the description covers what is saved, the child-preset relationship, replace/backup semantics, and the restart caveat. It is nearly complete, missing only explicit name semantics and error behavior.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 0%, so the description must compensate. It explains the replace flag's effect (updates the user preset with a backup) but does not clarify that 'name' is the preset name or mention the default value of replace=false; the name parameter is only obliquely referenced via 'with that name'.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description states a specific verb and resource: it saves the project's process changes as a Bambu Studio user process preset, a child of the project's process preset. This clearly distinguishes it from sibling save_filament_preset and save_printer_preset by naming the distinct preset type and scope.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

The 'like Save as in Bambu Studio' analogy and the replace=True explanation imply usage, but the description never explicitly states when to use this tool versus save_project, edit_preset, or sync_with_bambu_studio. The guidance is present but only implied rather than prescribed.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
