**Current Status:** This affects 3 instance manager tests but is a **separate, pre-existing issue** from the string key TypeError we set out to fix.
**Evidence this is pre-existing:**
- Different error message than documented in Week 7 planning
- Different stack trace (bevy internal asyncio handling vs bevy type checking)
- Affects only tests with async test functions calling sync-looking functions
