## Overview
Day 2 focused on addressing the security auditor's critical finding (6.5/10 score) regarding missing authentication and authorization tests. Created comprehensive security test suite for `SessionPermissionsManager` with 27 tests covering all critical security scenarios.

**File Created:** `tests/unit/test_session_permissions.py` (382 lines, 27 tests)
**Test Coverage by Category:**
1. **Initialization & Session ID** (4 tests)
- Singleton pattern enforcement
- Session ID generation and format validation
- Cross-instance session ID persistence
- Permissions file directory structure creation
1. **Authorization Boundary Enforcement** (4 tests)
- Secure default deny (untrusted operations return False)
- Authorization after explicit permission granting
- Case-sensitive operation name matching (security requirement)
- Predefined operation constants validation

- Add operations to trusted set
- File persistence for cross-session security
- Description parameter handling (ignored in current implementation)

### Technical Challenges & Solutions
#### Challenge 1: Singleton Pattern + Test Isolation
**Problem:** Tests were reusing singleton instances from previous tests, causing:
- Wrong file paths (real home directory instead of temp)
- Polluted trusted_operations sets
- Cross-test state contamination
**Root Cause:** Singleton created by previous test persists even with `autouse=True` reset fixture.
**Solution:** Explicitly call `SessionPermissionsManager.reset_singleton()` at the start of persistence tests before creating instances.

#### Challenge 2: Parent Directory Creation
**Problem:** `mkdir(exist_ok=True)` fails when parent directory doesn't exist.
**Solution:** Ensure `.claude` directory exists before creating `SessionPermissionsManager`:

#### Challenge 3: Understanding Cache Behavior
**Context:** Fixed in Day 1, but important for understanding test expectations.
**Insight:** `create_project_group()` POPULATES cache (quick lookups), doesn't invalidate it. Tests must match actual implementation behavior, not assumed patterns.

**Status:** These failures are infrastructure issues related to bevy DI type confusion (string keys vs class keys). Deferred to Week 7 ACB DI refactoring phase where this will be systematically resolved.

## Technical Insights
### Insight 1: Singleton Pattern Testing Strategy
When testing singleton patterns, **always reset before each test that needs a fresh instance**:

### Insight 2: Test Isolation with Class-Level State
Class-level variables (like `_instance`, `_session_id`) require explicit reset in tests. The `autouse=True` fixture runs AFTER fixture parameters are resolved, so dependencies may already have captured stale state.
### Insight 3: Security Test Priorities
When writing security tests, prioritize:
1. **Secure defaults** (deny-by-default)
1. **Authorization boundaries** (case sensitivity, exact matching)
1. **Persistence security** (cross-session integrity)
1. **Audit capabilities** (monitoring and visibility)
1. **Edge cases** (empty strings, special chars, whitespace)
### Insight 4: Understanding Implementation vs Assumptions
Always read the implementation before writing tests. The cache invalidation test failed because I assumed standard patterns, but the code actually populates the cache for quick lookups. **Match tests to actual behavior**, not assumed behavior.

## Security Scan: Hardcoded Credentials
### Scan Performed
Comprehensive search for hardcoded credentials, secrets, and API keys across the entire test suite.
**Search Patterns Used:**

### Results: ✅ NO SECURITY ISSUES FOUND
**Test Fixtures (Legitimate):**
All "credentials" found in `test_llm_providers.py` are legitimate test fixtures:
- `{"api_key": "test-key"}` - Clearly marked as test data
- `{"api_key": "sk-test123"}` - Obviously fake OpenAI key format
- `{"api_key": "test-gemini-key"}` - Obviously fake Gemini key
**Proper Patterns Used:**
- Environment variables properly mocked with `patch.dict("os.environ", ...)`
- No actual secrets or API keys in codebase
- No credential files (.env, .credentials) in repository
**Conclusion:** The security auditor's concern about "hardcoded credentials" does not apply to this codebase. All credential references are either:
1. Legitimate test fixtures with obviously fake values
1. Properly mocked environment variables for testing
1. Documentation references (not actual secrets)
