hcloud_list_volume_actions

Read-only

List all actions for a Hetzner Cloud volume, including pagination, sorting, and status filtering, to inspect volume operation history.

Instructions

List Actions for a Volume

Returns all Action objects for a Volume. You can sort the results by using the sort URI parameter, and filter them with the status parameter.

Input Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
idYesID of the Volume.
pageNoPage number to return. For more information, see "[Pagination](#description/pagination)".
sortNoSort actions by field and direction. May be used multiple times. For more information, see "[Sorting](#description/sorting)".
statusNoFilter the actions by status. May be used multiple times. The response will only contain actions matching the specified statuses.
per_pageNoMaximum number of entries returned per page. For more information, see "[Pagination](#description/pagination)".

TDQS

A3.5/5.0
Behavior3/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint=true, destructiveHint=false and openWorldHint=true, so the safety profile is covered. The description adds only that all actions are returned and that sort/status may be applied, without covering pagination behavior, response shape, or whether the volume must exist.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Two short sentences with the purpose front-loaded, and the filtering/sorting capability stated immediately after. Slight redundancy in 'List Actions for a Volume' followed by 'Returns all Action objects for a Volume', but no wasted prose.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness4/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a read-only list tool with full schema coverage and annotations covering safety, the description is largely sufficient. The remaining gap is that it does not describe what an Action object contains or how auto_paginate affects results, but no output schema exists to defer to.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so all six parameters including sort, status, page/per_page and auto_paginate are already documented in the schema. The description merely echoes that sort and status exist, adding no semantics beyond the structured fields; baseline 3 applies.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource ('List Actions for a Volume') and clarifies the return ('all Action objects for a Volume'). It is distinguishable from hcloud_get_volume_action (single action) by the plural/scope, though it never names that sibling explicitly.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Usage is only implied: sort and status are mentioned as available controls, but there is no statement of when to prefer this over hcloud_list_actions (global) or hcloud_get_volume_action (one action), and no prerequisites given.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
