hcloud_get_certificates_actions

Read-only

Retrieve and filter certificate actions to review running, successful, or failed operations for Hetzner Cloud certificates.

Instructions

List Actions

Returns all Action objects. You can sort the results by using the sort URI parameter, and filter them with the status and id parameter.

Input Schema

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
idNoFilter the actions by ID. May be used multiple times. The response will only contain actions matching the specified IDs.
pageNoPage number to return. For more information, see "[Pagination](#description/pagination)".
sortNoSort actions by field and direction. May be used multiple times. For more information, see "[Sorting](#description/sorting)".
statusNoFilter the actions by status. May be used multiple times. The response will only contain actions matching the specified statuses.

TDQS

C2.6/5.0
Behavior3/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already declare readOnlyHint=true, destructiveHint=false, and openWorldHint=true, so the safety profile is covered. The description adds only that results can be sorted and filtered, and hints at returning Action objects, but says nothing about pagination defaults, ordering guarantees, or response shape beyond the schema. Adequate but thin given the low bar set by annotations.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Two short sentences with no waste and the capability statement is front-loaded. It loses a point only because the first line ('List Actions') is redundant with the tool name and conveys no scoping information.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness2/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a paginated list tool with no output schema, the description must at minimum establish what collection is being listed, and it fails: it claims to return 'all Action objects' when the tool is certificate-scoped. Combined with the absence of any return-format or pagination context, the definition is not sufficient for correct selection.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100%, so the schema already documents id, status, sort, page, and per_page in detail. The description echoes sort/status/id but omits pagination parameters entirely and adds no syntax or semantics beyond the schema; baseline 3 applies.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose2/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description opens with the generic boilerplate 'List Actions / Returns all Action objects' and never mentions certificates, so the resource scope implied by the tool name is absent from the text. With siblings like hcloud_list_actions, hcloud_list_certificate_actions, and hcloud_get_certificates_actions_id in the namespace, an agent cannot tell from the description which one this is or what it is scoped to.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines2/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

It says sorting and filtering are possible but gives no when-to-use guidance, no exclusions, and no pointer to the alternative tools that return the same Action objects at different scopes. The agent is left to infer that this is the certificate-scoped variant from the name alone.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
