Access Dubai parking zone tariffs with peak/off-peak rates, VAT details, free parking times, and the mParking SMS shortcode.

Instructions

Dubai Parkin zones, tariffs, VAT, free periods, and mParking shortcode.

Variable tariffs since 4 April 2025: peak 4 to 6 AED/h, off-peak 2 to 4 AED/h. From 1 June 2026 a 5% VAT applies on top (displayed prices are VAT-inclusive) and cash payments at meters are phased out (Nol cards still accepted). Free Sundays, public holidays, and 22:00 to 08:00. mParking SMS shortcode is 7275 (PARK), format <plate> <zone> <hours>.

CRITICAL: 'Mawaqif' is the Abu Dhabi parking system. Dubai parking is operated by Parkin Company PJSC (DFM:PARKIN), spun out of RTA in December 2023.

Behavior3/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

With no annotations, the description carries full burden. It lists the content (tariffs, VAT, free periods, mParking) but does not explain the tool's behavior (e.g., whether it returns a list of zones or static text). The output schema is present, which mitigates this slightly.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The description is front-loaded with a clear subject line and includes essential details in a structured way. It could be slightly more concise, but every sentence adds value.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness3/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Given the tool has no parameters and a known output schema, the description covers the main topics but lacks explicit mention of the return format or how the data is structured. It is adequate but not fully comprehensive.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

The input schema has zero parameters, so schema coverage is trivially 100%. Baseline is 4. The description adds no parameter info, which is acceptable since there are no parameters to document.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description clearly states the tool provides Dubai parking zones, tariffs, VAT, free periods, and mParking shortcode. It distinguishes itself from the Abu Dhabi Mawaqif system, making the purpose specific and non-ambiguous.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

The description explicitly warns that Mawaqif is for Abu Dhabi and Dubai parking is operated by Parkin Company, guiding the agent to use this tool for Dubai queries. However, it does not compare with other sibling tools that might offer similar info.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
