maximize

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

No annotations are provided, so the description carries the full burden. It usefully discloses a side effect beyond the immediate action (persisting the mode for future runs) and an edge case (hidden windows only persist), but it never explains what 'requested mode' refers to given the sole parameter is a tab id, nor what the call returns.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Two short sentences, front-loaded with the action and followed by the persistence semantics and the exception. No wasted text.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

For a zero-required-parameter, single-action tool with no output schema, the description covers the action, the persistence side effect, and the hidden-window exception. Only the meaning of 'requested mode' relative to the 'tab' parameter is left unexplained.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema coverage is 100% for the single optional 'tab' parameter, so the baseline is 3. The description adds nothing about the tab parameter and even frames the action as window-scoped while the schema is tab-scoped, leaving that relationship to be inferred.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb ('Maximize') and resource ('this window'), which is unambiguous against siblings like resize, minimize, and close. It stops short of explicitly naming the alternative dimensioned tool (resize) for resizing to arbitrary bounds, so it is clear but not fully sibling-differentiating.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Usage is implied by the verb and by the caveat that hidden windows only persist the mode, which tells the agent the visible effect is conditional. There is no explicit when-to-use versus resize/minimize guidance or prerequisite statement.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
