Scored across 6 tools
The three read tools (get_grammar_focus, get_learning_context, get_vocabulary) all retrieve learner progress and overlap: get_learning_context returns both vocabulary and grammar evidence, making it unclear when to call it versus the narrower two. Similarly, save_vocabulary (mark words as learning) and update_practice_focus (remember words to work on next) can appear to do the same thing. Descriptions do provide boundary guidance, but an agent could easily misselect.
All tools follow a consistent verb_noun snake_case pattern: get_*, record_practice, save_vocabulary, update_practice_focus. No mixed conventions or stray verb styles.
Six tools is well-scoped for a language-learning progress server, with three reads and three writes covering the domain without redundancy. Each tool earns its place and nothing feels padded or missing at the count level.
The surface covers reading progress and writing practice records, vocabulary status, and focus, but there is no way to remove or forget saved vocabulary (save_vocabulary only sets known/learning) and no tool to retrieve past practice records. These are notable gaps in an otherwise reasonable lifecycle.
