# SrcLog MCP Server

Search and inspect open-source GitHub repositories, curated topics and developer rankings from [SrcLog.com](https://srclog.com) — straight from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and any other MCP client.

- **Remote, hosted:** `https://srclog.com/mcp` (Streamable HTTP, stateless, plain JSON responses)
- **No auth, no API key, no sign-up**
- **Fair-use limit:** 30 tool calls per minute per IP (protocol messages like `initialize` and `tools/list` are free)
- **Data:** ~450,000 repositories and 435 curated topics, refreshed daily from the public GitHub API

## What you can ask

- "Find self-hosted alternatives to Notion with more than 5k stars"
- "What are the most-starred Rust web frameworks?"
- "Who are the top Python developers in Ukraine?"
- "Show me repositories similar to laravel/framework"
- "Give me the profile and rankings of the `vercel` organization"

## Tools

## Install

### Claude Code

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http srclog https://srclog.com/mcp
```

### Claude.ai, ChatGPT and other apps with custom connectors

Add a custom connector, paste `https://srclog.com/mcp` as the server URL and leave authentication empty.

### Cursor, Windsurf and other `mcpServers` configs

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "srclog": { "url": "https://srclog.com/mcp" }
  }
}
```

### VS Code

```json
{
  "servers": {
    "srclog": { "type": "http", "url": "https://srclog.com/mcp" }
  }
}
```

### Raw JSON-RPC

```bash
curl https://srclog.com/mcp \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Accept: application/json, text/event-stream" \
  -d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"get_repo","arguments":{"repo":"laravel/framework"}}}'
```

## Rate limits

Each tool call counts against a 30 requests/minute budget per IP, shared with the [SrcLog REST API](https://srclog.com/for-developers). Over the limit, the tool returns an error result (`Rate limit: 30 req/min, retry in N s`) instead of dropping the connection, so assistants can wait and retry.
