delete_message

Destructive

Delete a sent message by its message_id to remove an erroneously sent message. This irreversible action only works on your own messages.

Instructions

Удалить отправленное сообщение по его message_id.

Когда использовать: для удаления ошибочно отправленного сообщения. Возвращает: подтверждение удаления или сообщение об ошибке. Связанные: get_dialog — найти message_id сообщения, edit_message — отредактировать вместо удаления.

ВНИМАНИЕ: необратимое действие. Удалить можно только свои сообщения.

Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Adds caution about irreversibility and only own messages beyond annotations. Annotations already had destructiveHint and openWorldHint.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Well-structured with separate sections, no wasted words, each sentence adds value.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Covers purpose, when to use, caution, related tools, and return value. Output schema present, so not needed. Complete for a simple deletion tool.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Single parameter message_id with 0% schema coverage. Description only says 'by its message_id' and indirectly references get_dialog to find it. Meets minimum but doesn't enrich.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

Description clearly states the verb (delete), resource (sent message), and identifier (message_id). Distinguishes from siblings like edit_message and get_dialog.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Explicitly states when to use (to delete a mistakenly sent message) and mentions related tools. Lacks explicit when-not-to-use but context is clear.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
