List Tailoring Sessions

list_tailoring_sessions
Read-onlyIdempotent

Lists all tailoring sessions for a job, newest first, to rediscover lost session IDs or review status.

Instructions

List all tailoring sessions for a job, newest first.

A lost session id can be rediscovered here (create_tailoring_session would
supersede the open one). Each item is a summary (id, job_id, base_resume,
status, application_id, timestamps, gap_count, resolution_count); the gap
list and saved resolutions are on get_tailoring_session. Status is one of:
open (in-progress gap walkthrough, resumable via get_tailoring_session),
tailored (finished — tailor_session already ran), superseded (a newer
session for the same job+base replaced it), or abandoned (explicitly closed
via close_tailoring_session without tailoring).

TDQS

A4.6/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already cover the safety profile (readOnlyHint, idempotentHint, destructiveHint=false, openWorldHint=false), and the description still adds substantial behavior: it documents the summary-level item shape and enumerates all four status values with their meanings and the action that produces each. This is exactly the kind of state semantics structured fields cannot express.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with the one-line purpose, then layered detail on rediscovery and item shape. Dense but every clause carries information; the middle sentence is a long parenthetical that could be slightly tighter but is not wasted.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

With no output schema, the description carries the burden of describing the return value, and it does so completely: item fields, what is excluded (gaps and resolutions), and full status enum semantics. An agent can use the result without calling another tool first.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 0% for the single job_id parameter. The description compensates only partially by scoping the tool to 'for a job,' implying job_id is the target job identifier, but it never states the expected format or whether the job must exist. Adequate for a self-evident single key, not more.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource ('List all tailoring sessions for a job') plus the ordering ('newest first'). It is cleanly separable from the adjacent siblings get_tailoring_session, create_tailoring_session, and close_tailoring_session, which are each named and assigned distinct roles.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Gives an explicit when-to-use trigger ('A lost session id can be rediscovered here') and routes the agent to alternatives: get_tailoring_session for gap lists and resolutions, create_tailoring_session to supersede an open session, close_tailoring_session for abandonment. The division of labor between listing, reading detail, and mutating is fully spelled out.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
