set_wallet_mode

Idempotent

Switch wallet signing mode between browser (TronLink, secure) and agent (encrypted key file).

Instructions

Switch wallet signing mode. 'browser' (recommended, more secure): uses TronLink in your browser — private keys never leave the browser. 'agent': uses encrypted key stored in ~/.agent-wallet/. Selecting agent mode for the first time will create an encrypted agent-wallet if needed. Browser mode requires connect_browser_wallet first.

Behavior4/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Annotations already idempotentHint=true and destructiveHint=false. Description adds that agent first-time creation creates an encrypted wallet, and browser mode has a prerequisite, which are useful behavioral traits not in annotations.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Three sentences, each purposeful: main action, mode details with security, and prerequisite. No redundant information.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Given a simple tool with one parameter and no output schema, the description covers purpose, mode details, side effects, and prerequisites completely. No missing information for an agent to use it correctly.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters5/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema has one enum parameter with description. Description significantly enriches meaning by explaining security implications, wallet creation, and prerequisite for each mode, going beyond the schema's simple enumeration.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

Clearly states 'Switch wallet signing mode' with a specific verb and resource. The two modes are distinct from sibling tools like get_wallet_mode and set_active_wallet, so no confusion.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Provides implicit guidance by explaining that browser mode requires connect_browser_wallet first, and distinguishes between security levels. Lacks explicit when-not-to-use or alternative tool mentions, but context is clear.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
