Discord MCP Ultimate

discord_style_name

Read-only

Generates Unicode-decorated variants of a Discord channel, category, forum, or role name in your chosen styles. Use it to add decorative styling to server names that stays within Discord's length limit.

Instructions

Generate styled variants of one name for a Discord channel, category, forum, or role. Returns one variant per requested style (or every style when none is given). Uses Unicode decorative characters only: this decorates the text, it does not change the font Discord renders, because Discord has no per-server font setting. Empty or punctuation-only input falls back to a readable default name. Use discord_style_preview to plan a whole server at once.

TDQS

A4.4/5.0
Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Beyond readOnlyHint/openWorldHint, it discloses genuinely non-obvious behavior: output is Unicode decorative characters, not an actual font change, and empty or punctuation-only input falls back to a readable default name. That is exactly the context an agent needs to avoid misusing the result.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness4/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Front-loaded with purpose, then return shape, then the Unicode caveat and the sibling pointer. Mostly dense, though the 'no per-server font setting' clause slightly over-explains after the point was already made.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

A read-only, single-purpose generation tool with a full schema and an output schema, so return values need no explanation. The description covers scope, defaults, edge-case input handling, and the related planning tool, leaving nothing an agent needs missing.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

With 100% schema description coverage, the parameters are already fully documented, including the styles enum and max_length bounds. The description restates the styles omission semantics rather than adding new meaning, so the baseline 3 applies.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

States a specific verb and resource: generate styled variants of one name, scoped to Discord channels, categories, forums, and roles. It clearly separates itself from the sibling tools that manage/persist styles by emphasizing it only generates variants.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines4/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Explicitly routes the agent to discord_style_preview when planning a whole server at once, and clarifies the default behavior when no styles are requested. It does not mention discord_list_name_styles or discord_apply_name_theme, so the alternative space is only partially mapped.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
