by amirjahfar1

get_performance_overview

Retrieve search performance metrics like clicks and impressions for any verified Search Console property over a specified time period.

Instructions

Get a performance overview for a specific property.

Args:
site_url: Exact GSC property URL from list_properties (e.g. "https://example.com/" or
"sc-domain:example.com"). Domain properties cover all subdomains — use the
domain property as site_url and filter by page to analyze a specific subdomain.
days: Number of days to look back (default: 28)

Behavior2/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

No annotations provided, so description must carry full burden. Discloses read nature implicitly but no explicit safety, auth, rate limits, or destructive behavior. Minimal beyond purpose.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

Description is brief, front-loaded with purpose, and includes a structured 'Args:' section. Every sentence adds value without unnecessary verbosity.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness3/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Adequate for basic use with two parameters and output schema present. However, lacks differentiation from sibling tools and does not clarify scope of 'performance overview' compared to other analytics endpoints.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters4/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Adds significant meaning to site_url (exact from list_properties, domain vs subdomain) and explains days default. Schema coverage is 0%, so description compensates well.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose4/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

Clearly states 'Get a performance overview for a specific property' and explains the site_url parameter. However, it does not explicitly differentiate from similar tools like 'get_search_analytics' or 'get_advanced_search_analytics'.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines3/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

Provides guidance on site_url format and days default, including advice on domain vs subdomain usage. Lacks explicit when-to-use vs siblings or when-not-to-use.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
