MCP (Model Context Protocol) server for Bitcoin mining data. Get real-time hashprice, difficulty, profitability calculations, and more.

## 🚀 Features

- **Real-time market data** — BTC price, hashprice, difficulty, network stats
- **Profitability calculator** — Calculate ROI for any ASIC setup
- **Historical data** — Price and difficulty history since 2009
- **Halving tracker** — Current era, next halving, supply stats
- **Mempool & blocks** — Fee estimates and recent blocks
- **ASIC prices** — Market prices by efficiency tier

## 📦 Installation

```bash
npm install -g @startminingmcp/mcp
```

Or use directly with npx:

```bash
npx @startminingmcp/mcp
```

## ⚙️ Configuration

### Claude Desktop

Add to your `claude_desktop_config.json`:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "startmining": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["@startminingmcp/mcp"]
    }
  }
}
```

### With API Key (optional, for higher rate limits)

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "startmining": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["@startminingmcp/mcp"],
      "env": {
        "STARTMINING_API_KEY": "your_api_key"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

## 💡 Example Queries

Once configured, you can ask Claude:

- "What's the current hashprice?"
- "Calculate profitability for an S21 (200 TH/s, 3500W) at $0.05/kWh"
- "When is the next halving?"
- "Show me BTC price history for last month"
- "What's the mempool fee situation?"
- "Give me the September 2026 monthly averages for price, hashrate and hashprice"
- "Compare the last two closed weeks: block time, fees and hashprice"

## 📊 Data Sources

TDQS

A3.5/5.0

Scored across 13 tools

Disambiguation4/5

Most tools target distinct resources (mempool, ASIC prices, halving, recent blocks), and descriptions cross-reference alternatives like get_weekly_stats. However, get_market_data bundles price/hashprice/difficulty/network stats and overlaps with get_hashprice, get_difficulty, and get_price_history, creating some selection ambiguity.

Naming Consistency5/5

Every tool follows a clean verb_noun snake_case pattern: get_* or calculate_*. The convention is completely predictable across all 13 tools.

Tool Count5/5

13 tools is well within the ideal range and each covers a meaningful slice of the mining-analytics domain (current stats, historical series, profitability calcs). Nothing feels padded or missing at the count level.

Completeness4/5

The surface covers current data (difficulty, hashprice, mempool, market), history (price, difficulty, weekly/monthly aggregates, blocks), and calculators (profitability, breakeven), which is strong lifecycle coverage. Minor gaps remain, e.g. no historical profitability or per-pool/miner comparison, but core workflows are supported.
