# TASK-007: Documentation Updates ## Task Overview **Priority**: P2 (Nice to Have) **Estimated Effort**: 0.5 days **Dependencies**: TASK-001 through TASK-006 **Status**: Not Started ## Description Update all relevant documentation to explain the configuration mode feature, including README, user guides, and API documentation. ## Acceptance Criteria - [ ] README updated with configuration mode explanation - [ ] User guide created for configuration mode - [ ] API documentation updated - [ ] Migration guide for existing users - [ ] CHANGELOG updated ## Technical Details ### Documentation Updates #### 1. README.md Updates - Add section explaining configuration mode - Update Quick Start to mention mode behavior - Add FAQ entries about configuration mode - Include examples of mode switching #### 2. User Guide (docs/guides/CONFIGURATION-MODE.md) - Detailed explanation of the feature - When and why to use each mode - How to switch between modes - Auto-exit behavior - Troubleshooting section #### 3. API Documentation - Document new tools (enter/exit configuration mode) - Update tool descriptions to mention mode requirements - Document feature flag option #### 4. Migration Guide - For existing users - How to disable if needed - Benefits of the new system - Common scenarios and solutions ### Files to Create/Modify - `README.md` - `docs/guides/CONFIGURATION-MODE.md` (new) - `docs/api/tools.md` (if exists) - `CHANGELOG.md` ### README Section Example ```markdown ## Configuration Mode HyperTool now features a Configuration Mode that separates toolset management from operational tools: ### How It Works - **Configuration Mode**: Access tools for creating and managing toolsets - **Normal Mode**: Use tools from your equipped toolset ### Automatic Mode Selection - Starts in Configuration Mode if no toolset is equipped - Starts in Normal Mode if a toolset is already active - Automatically exits Configuration Mode when you equip a toolset ### Manual Mode Switching ``` // In Normal Mode You: "Enter configuration mode" AI: [Switches to configuration mode - toolset tools hidden, config tools shown] // In Configuration Mode You: "Exit configuration mode" AI: [Returns to normal mode - config tools hidden, toolset tools shown] ``` ### Disabling Configuration Mode If you prefer the legacy behavior with all tools always visible: ```bash hypertool-mcp --disable-configuration-mode ``` ``` ## Testing Requirements - Documentation is clear and accurate - Examples work as described - No broken links - Consistent terminology ## Notes Documentation should be written for both new users and those migrating from the previous version.
