# Product Requirements Document (PRD) for MCP Agile Flow
## Status
Draft
## Introduction
MCP Agile Flow is a solution designed to standardize agile workflow management and documentation across different Integrated Development Environments (IDEs). This product addresses the challenges development teams face when using various IDEs by providing a unified framework for managing agile artifacts, documentation templates, and workflow processes regardless of the development environment being used.
The primary target users include development teams, team leads, project managers, and technical writers who need consistent documentation and workflow processes despite using different IDEs.
## Goals
- Create a cross-IDE compatible system for agile documentation and workflow management
- Reduce documentation creation and maintenance time by 75%
- Achieve 95% standardization of documentation across various development environments
- Decrease project setup time from hours to minutes
- Enable seamless knowledge transfer between team members using different IDEs
- Provide a single source of truth for document templates and workflow rules
- Facilitate smooth migration between IDE configurations while preserving customizations
## Features and Requirements

- Simplified tool registration and usage ✅
- Backward compatibility with existing tools ✅
- Improved error handling and logging ✅
## Note on Knowledge Graph Functionality
The knowledge graph functionality (entity and relationship tracking, contextual awareness of documentation connections, and semantic search capabilities) has been moved to a separate MCP server. This decision was made to simplify the core MCP Agile Flow implementation and provide better separation of concerns. The core functionality of MCP Agile Flow continues to work without the knowledge graph.
### Non-functional Requirements
1. **Usability**
- Intuitive command interface ✅
- Minimal training required for adoption ✅
- Consistent experience regardless of IDE ✅
- Clear error messages and guidance ✅
2. **Performance**
- Document generation in less than 10 seconds ✅

- Minimal impact on IDE performance ✅
- Efficient storage of templates and documents ✅
3. **Maintainability**
- Single source of truth for templates ✅
- Modular architecture for easy updates ✅
- Clear separation of IDE-specific and core functionality ✅
- Well-documented codebase ✅
4. **Compatibility**
- Support for Python 3.8+ ✅
- Cross-platform (Windows, macOS, Linux) ✅
- Standard Markdown compatibility ✅
- Integration with existing project structures ✅
