## Overview
Successfully implemented the `SessionTracker` class in Session-Buddy MCP to handle session lifecycle events from admin shells (Mahavishnu, Session-Buddy, Oneiric, etc.) via MCP tools.

### Key Components
#### 1. SessionTracker Class
**Purpose**: Handles session lifecycle events from admin shells via MCP tools
**Methods**:
- `__init__(session_manager, logger=None)`: Initialize with lifecycle manager
- `handle_session_start(event: SessionStartEvent) -> SessionStartResult`: Handle session start events
- `handle_session_end(event: SessionEndEvent) -> SessionEndResult`: Handle session end events

## Architecture Decisions
### 1. Pydantic-First Validation
- All events validated automatically by Pydantic models

- No exceptions raised to callers
- Error messages preserved for logging
### 3. Session ID Generation
- Format: `{component_name}-{timestamp_YYYYMMDD-HHMMSS}`
- Predictable and sortable
- Links to original event metadata
### 4. Logging Strategy
- INFO level for successful operations
- ERROR level for failures
- Comprehensive context in log messages
- Component name, shell type, PID included
### 5. Separation of Concerns
- SessionTracker: Event handling and validation
- SessionLifecycleManager: Session operations
- Event Models: Validation and serialization
## Future Enhancements
### Potential Improvements
1. **Session Database Lookup**
- Currently `handle_session_end` doesn't look up sessions by session_id
- Future: Add session database to track active sessions
- Future: Query session by ID before ending
2. **Duration Calculation**
- Currently duration calculated in SessionLifecycleManager
- Future: Calculate duration in SessionTracker using event timestamps
3. **Session Metadata**
- Future: Store event metadata with session records
- Future: Query sessions by component_name, shell_type, etc.
4. **Session State Tracking**
- Future: Track session state (active, ended, error)
- Future: Handle duplicate session start events
- Future: Handle session end without start
