## Unacceptable Behavior
The following behaviors are not tolerated in this community:
### **Harassment**
- Unwelcome comments or conduct based on protected characteristics (race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, religion, or other status)
- Repeated unwelcome contact after being asked to stop
- Threats or intimidation
- Stalking or doxxing
- Unwelcome physical contact
### **Discrimination**
- Exclusion based on protected characteristics
- Denial of opportunities based on identity
- Stereotyping or prejudicial comments
### **Hostile Conduct**
- Deliberate intimidation
- Aggressive or abusive language
- Personal attacks or insults
- Dismissing others' contributions or expertise
### **Misconduct**
- Sharing others' private information without consent
- Fraud or deception
- Plagiarism or credit theft
- Trolling or deliberately disruptive behavior
### **Professional Violations**
- Spam or unsolicited commercial content
- Solicitation without proper disclosure
- Copyright or trademark violations
- Attempts to manipulate project processes

## Scope
This Code of Conduct applies to:
- **GitHub Issues and Discussions**: All interactions
- **Pull Requests**: Comments and review discussions
- **Email Communication**: Official project communications
- **Community Events**: Meetups, conferences, or community gatherings
- **Public Statements**: Representing the project publicly
This Code of Conduct does not apply to:
- Private conversations between community members
- Content not directly related to the project
- Off-topic discussions in appropriate forums

## Reporting Violations
### **How to Report**
If you experience or witness unacceptable behavior:
1. **For Non-Emergency Issues**:
- Email: conduct@atlas-gate-mcp.org
- Include: Description of incident, people involved, witnesses, links to relevant content
2. **For Urgent/Threatening Issues**:
- Email: emergency@atlas-gate-mcp.org
- Response time: Within 24 hours
- Include: Safety concerns and immediate needs
3. **For Private Matters**:
- Email: conduct@atlas-gate-mcp.org with subject "CONFIDENTIAL"
- Your privacy will be respected
### **What to Include in Report**
Help us understand the situation:
- What happened and when
- Who was involved (pseudonyms are OK)
- How it affected you or the community
- Any witnesses or evidence
- What you'd like to happen
**Note**: You don't need to be the target of unacceptable behavior to report it. If you witness something concerning, please report it.

## Investigation Process
### **What We'll Do**
1. **Acknowledge**: Receipt acknowledged within 48 hours
2. **Investigate**: Impartial, confidential investigation
3. **Consult**: Talk to relevant people and gather facts
4. **Decide**: Determine if Code of Conduct was violated
5. **Communicate**: Inform reporter and offender of outcome
6. **Document**: Record for pattern-detection
### **Timeline**
- **Simple cases**: Resolution within 7 days
- **Complex cases**: Resolution within 14 days
- **Extended cases**: Updates every 7 days
### **Confidentiality**
- Reporter identity protected (unless they prefer otherwise)
- Investigation details kept confidential
- Only necessary parties informed of outcome
- Results documented securely

## Consequences
Consequences are proportional to the severity and pattern of behavior:
### **First Violation (Minor)**
- Private conversation to clarify expectations
- Warning issued
### **Second Violation or First (Moderate)**
- Temporary removal (3-7 days)
- Requirements for re-entry (e.g., acknowledgment, training)
### **Severe First Violation or Third Violation**
- Permanent removal from community
- May be reported to law enforcement if necessary
### **Pattern of Violations**
- Immediate escalation to consequences
- May include legal action if appropriate
**Note**: Serious violations (threats, doxxing, harassment) may result in immediate permanent removal without warning.

## Appeals Process
If you disagree with the outcome:
1. **Request Appeal**: Email conduct@atlas-gate-mcp.org within 7 days
2. **Provide Context**: Explain why you believe the decision was unfair
3. **Independent Review**: A different team reviews the case
4. **Final Decision**: Made within 14 days
Appeals are taken seriously and reviewed impartially.

## Enforcement
### **Who Enforces This**
- **Code of Conduct Committee**: Appointed group responsible for enforcement
- **Project Maintainers**: Can remove or restrict access to community spaces
- **Community Moderators**: Can delete inappropriate content and issue warnings
### **Authority**
The Code of Conduct Committee has final authority over interpretation and enforcement. Decisions can be appealed through the process above.
