# Code Executor MCP - Codebase Inventory Report
## Executive Summary
This document catalogs existing implementations in the code-executor-mcp codebase that are reusable for CLI setup infrastructure. The codebase provides production-grade patterns for filesystem operations, configuration management, lock file handling, and audit logging that can be adapted for CLI initialization.

### 1.1 Path Canonicalization & Security

**Function:** `isAllowedPath(path: string, allowedRoots: string[]): Promise<boolean>`
**Capabilities:**
- Resolves symlinks using `fs.realpath()` (prevents symlink escapes)

## 2. CONFIGURATION FILE MANAGEMENT
### 2.1 Config Discovery with Priority Ordering

**Class:** `ConfigDiscoveryService`
**Capabilities:**
- **Multi-source config merging** (env vars, project-level, user-level, defaults)

- **Environment variable interpolation** (`env:VAR_NAME` syntax)

## 3. LOCK FILE MANAGEMENT
### 3.1 Current Implementation Status
**Finding:** No PID-based lock file implementation exists in code-executor-mcp.
**Reason:** MCP server doesn't need distributed locking (single instance per home directory).
**What Exists:**
- **AsyncLock mutex** (in-memory) for concurrent write protection (lines 156-178 in audit-logger.ts)
- Not suitable for CLI lock files (lost on process exit)
### 3.2 AsyncLock Usage Pattern (Applicable to CLI)

**Pattern:**

**Capabilities:**
1. **Daily log rotation** - One file per day (`audit-YYYY-MM-DD.log`)

3. **AsyncLock protection** - Thread-safe concurrent writes
4. **30-day retention** - Configurable via `AUDIT_LOG_RETENTION_DAYS` env var
