Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

| HIAI_DOCS_API_KEY | Yes | A DocsMint global or category API key created in Settings → API. Required to authenticate the MCP client. Category keys grant least-privilege, category-scoped read/edit/write access; a global key grants owner-wide access. For the hosted endpoint this is passed as the bearer token (e.g. codex mcp add docsmint --url https://docsmint.com/mcp --bearer-token-env-var HIAI_DOCS_API_KEY). |
