Server Configuration
Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

| PERSONALBRAIN_TOKEN | Yes | Access token that protects the knowledge base; all MCP requests require it. It is generated by bootstrap.py into the .env file and is not printed to the terminal. | |
| PERSONALBRAIN_DATA_DIR | No | Path to the data directory used by the server (e.g. when restoring from a backup, point this to the extracted empty data directory). | |
| PERSONALBRAIN_ALLOWED_HOSTS | No | Comma-separated list of allowed hosts; add the actual external domain (e.g. brain.example.com) when exposing the service behind a reverse proxy. | |
| PERSONALBRAIN_ALLOWED_ORIGINS | No | Comma-separated list of trusted origins. Origin validation by default only allows local origins; configure this only if the client actually sends a different Origin. |
