# wildrun-records-mcp

An MCP server that gives AI agents US public-records lookups, paid per call with [x402](https://x402.org)
(USDC on Base) from the agent's own wallet. It wraps [records.wildrunai.com](https://records.wildrunai.com).

**55 sources**: FEC candidates, committees and donors · lobbying (LDA) · USAspending contracts · SEC EDGAR filings and
XBRL financials · OFAC sanctions · court dockets (CourtListener) · DOJ, FTC and CFPB actions · Federal Register ·
Congress bills · Polymarket and Kalshi prices · earthquakes, wildfires, weather alerts · GDELT news · Wayback snapshots.
Full list: `https://records.wildrunai.com/sources`.

## Tools

| Tool | Cost | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| `records_sources` | free | Lists every source id with what its query means |
| `records_search(source, q)` | $0.01 USDC per call | Looks up `q` in one source; returns `{source, total, items[]}` |

Validation errors (unknown source, empty query) are rejected before any payment is asked. Upstream rate limits
surface as `{error}` and still cost the call.

## Setup

You need a wallet holding a little USDC on Base (eip155:8453). Export its private key as `EVM_PRIVATE_KEY`.
Use a dedicated low-balance wallet; the server signs USDC transfers of $0.01 each and never more than
`RECORDS_MAX_USDC` (default 0.05) per call.

Claude Desktop / Cursor / any MCP client:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "wildrun-records": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "wildrun-records-mcp"],
      "env": { "EVM_PRIVATE_KEY": "0x..." }
    }
  }
}
```

Without `EVM_PRIVATE_KEY`, `records_sources` works and `records_search` returns instructions instead of data.

## Direct HTTP (no MCP)

```bash
curl -i "https://records.wildrunai.com/v1/fec?q=Wyden"   # 402 + PAYMENT-REQUIRED header
```

Any x402 client (`@x402/fetch`, the Coinbase Agentic Wallet, etc.) pays and retries automatically.

## Privacy

Nothing about the caller is stored. Data is fetched live from the source agency or exchange and returned as is.
