Server Configuration
Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

| VAWS_REMOTE_DEV_ROOT | Yes | Absolute path to the remote-dev substrate root. Provides the job supervisor. The manager refuses to start when this cannot be resolved. Alternative to --remote-dev-root. | |
| VAWS_HOST_QUEUE_MODULE | Yes | Absolute path to the host NPU queue coordination module (e.g. vaws_npu_coordination.py), a stdlib-only module exposing handle_request(request) and CoordinationError. Provides the device authority. The manager refuses to start when this cannot be resolved. Alternative to --host-queue-module. | |
| VAWS_MACHINE_INVENTORY | No | Absolute path to the machine inventory JSON used by the shared-inventory loader. Alternative to --machine-inventory. | |
| VAWS_AGENT_SESSIONS_DIR | No | Directory for the local task registry (agent sessions). Defaults to this checkout's primary worktree under .vaws-local/agent-sessions when unset. Clients that must share one task identity have to name the same directory. | |
| VAWS_PARITY_WORKSPACE_ROOT | No | Optional workspace root for the parity script. |
