delete_test_run

Destructive

Delete a test run and all its execution results. Required to change an immutable run's name, folder, or composition.

Instructions

Permanently delete a Zephyr Scale test run (test cycle) together with all its execution results. Since runs are immutable after creation, deleting and re-creating a run (create_test_run with the full desired items) is the only way to change its name, folder or composition.

Behavior5/5

Does the description disclose side effects, auth requirements, rate limits, or destructive behavior?

Beyond the destructiveHint annotation, the description adds important context: all execution results are deleted, and runs are immutable after creation. This fully discloses the consequences of the action.

Agents need to know what a tool does to the world before calling it. Descriptions should go beyond structured annotations to explain consequences.

Conciseness5/5

Is the description appropriately sized, front-loaded, and free of redundancy?

The description is two sentences, front-loaded with the action and consequences, and the second sentence provides necessary context about immutability. Every sentence earns its place without redundancy.

Shorter descriptions cost fewer tokens and are easier for agents to parse. Every sentence should earn its place.

Completeness5/5

Given the tool's complexity, does the description cover enough for an agent to succeed on first attempt?

Given the tool's simplicity (one parameter, no output schema, and clear annotations), the description is fully adequate. It covers what the tool does, the permanence, and the typical use case for modifying immutable runs.

Complex tools with many parameters or behaviors need more documentation. Simple tools need less. This dimension scales expectations accordingly.

Parameters3/5

Does the description clarify parameter syntax, constraints, interactions, or defaults beyond what the schema provides?

Schema description coverage is 100% with one parameter (testRunKey). The description does not add any additional semantic meaning beyond what the schema provides, so baseline score of 3 is appropriate.

Input schemas describe structure but not intent. Descriptions should explain non-obvious parameter relationships and valid value ranges.

Purpose5/5

Does the description clearly state what the tool does and how it differs from similar tools?

The description clearly states the verb (delete) and resource (test run/cycle), and explicitly includes that it deletes all execution results. It also distinguishes from siblings by noting runs are immutable, making this the only way to change name/folder/composition.

Agents choose between tools based on descriptions. A clear purpose with a specific verb and resource helps agents select the right tool.

Usage Guidelines5/5

Does the description explain when to use this tool, when not to, or what alternatives exist?

The description explicitly says 'permanently delete' indicating irreversibility, and provides a clear when-to-use rationale: since runs are immutable, deleting and recreating is the only way to change certain properties. This guides the agent away from using update tools incorrectly.

Agents often have multiple tools that could apply. Explicit usage guidance like "use X instead of Y when Z" prevents misuse.
