Edit a published status
edit_statusUpdate a published Mastodon post's text, content warning, media, or poll without losing boosts, replies, or favourites. Mastodon records a public revision history.
Instructions
Change the text, content warning, media alt text or poll of a status that is already published. Mastodon keeps a public revision history and the post keeps its boosts, replies and favourites, which is why editing beats delete-and-repost. Call get_status_source first to get the exact text you are editing. Public the moment it runs, so it needs confirm: true.
Input Schema
| Name | Required | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| id | Yes | The status to edit. | |
| status | Yes | The full new body. This replaces the old text, it is not a patch. | |
| account | No | Which connected account to act as. Matches a full handle (alice@example.social), a bare username (alice), or an instance (example.social). Defaults to the first connected account. Call list_accounts to see them. | |
| confirm | No | Must be true for this to run. The result is public immediately or cannot be undone, so it is refused without an explicit confirmation. | |
| language | No | ||
| media_ids | No | Existing attachment ids to keep, in order. Omit to leave the media untouched. | |
| sensitive | No | ||
| spoiler_text | No | New content warning. Pass an empty string to remove one. |
