That's it! The server will respond to your query, and you can continue using it as needed.
Here is a step-by-step guide with screenshots.
CIPP MCP Server
An MCP server for the CIPP API (CyberDrain Improved Partner Portal), the console MSPs use to manage many Microsoft 365 tenants through GDAP. It lets an AI agent read tenants, users, groups, mailboxes, conditional access, standards, licences and GDAP data from a CIPP instance and, on explicit request, make changes such as creating or editing users, resetting passwords, offboarding leavers, setting auto-replies or forwarding, and running standards.
Transport: MCP Streamable HTTP at
POST /mcp, health probe atGET /healthStateless and multi-tenant: credentials arrive on every request as HTTP headers and are never stored; OAuth tokens live only for the duration of one request
Python 3.12, uv, FastMCP, httpx

MSPbots Connector
The MCP Gateway built for MSPs: visible, controlled, and your data stays where it belongs.
Get started at connect.mspbots.ai →
MSPbots Connector gives your AI clients one MCP URL to reach your entire MSP stack (RMM, PSA, documentation, security, finance), and gives you control over who can call which tool and a record of everything that was called.
Hosted service: connect.mspbots.ai · Free to use.
Why Connector

Visible | Every tool call is logged: who, which vendor, when. Usage dashboard, CSV export, SIEM streaming. |
Controlled | Role-based, per-tool allowlist. Deny by default. |
Protected | Credentials encrypted per record. AI clients never see your vendor passwords or tokens. |
MSP-native | Built for the MSP stack only: RMM, PSA, documentation, security, finance. |
Quick start
Sign up at connect.mspbots.ai.
Connect your vendors. Pick from 150+ connectors and authorize each one on the vendor's own page, or bring your own API keys. No extra vendor accounts needed.
Set access. Create roles and decide which tools each role may call. Nothing is allowed until you allow it.
Add your MCP URL to your AI client. Copy the URL from your Connector dashboard into Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, Gemini, Codex, or any MCP-capable client.
Ask your AI to do real work, and watch every call appear in the audit log.
Features
Unified gateway
One MCP URL for all your AI clients
150+ connectors across the MSP stack
Custom MCP servers supported, free
Authorization happens on each vendor's own page; the AI never sees passwords or tokens
Bring your own credentials: use the vendor API keys you already have
Multiple accounts per app; connect once, reuse across AI clients
Tool search: finds the right action for the task
One sign-in; vendor credentials are injected behind the scenes and OAuth tokens refresh automatically
Visibility
Audit log for every tool call (who, which vendor, when)
Usage dashboard: call volume, top vendors, error rate, per-user activity
Export audit logs to CSV, or stream to Loki, Graylog, or LogScale (SIEM)
Optional recording of tool arguments and result summaries (off by default, enabled per organization)
Control
Per-role, per-tool allowlist, deny by default
owner / admin / member roles
SCIM provisioning with Entra ID, Okta, JumpCloud, and Google Workspace
Security
Credentials encrypted one record at a time (AES-256-GCM, per-record key)
AI clients authenticate with OAuth 2.1 + PKCE
Vendor responses are scanned for prompt-injection patterns and returned as structured data. This is one layer of defense, not a guarantee against every attack.
Static egress IP for customer firewall and API allowlisting
Pricing
Free.

Authentication headers
X-Base-Url is always required. Then send either X-Api-Key or the three OAuth
headers X-Tenant-Id + X-Client-Id + X-Client-Secret.
Header | Required | Type | Default | Allowed values | Description | Example |
| Yes | string | none | https URL | URL of the CIPP API backend (Azure Function App) |
|
| One of | string | none | - | A pre-issued bearer token for the CIPP API |
|
| One of | string | none | - | Partner (MSP) Entra tenant id that hosts the CIPP API client |
|
| One of | string | none | - | Application (client) id of the CIPP API client |
|
| One of | string | none | - | Client secret of the CIPP API client |
|
| No | string |
| - | Override the OAuth scope (disables the fallback) |
|
| No | string |
| https URL | Override the token endpoint | - |
| No | string | on |
| Retry once with scope |
|
Where to get them:
In CIPP open Settings -> Integrations -> CIPP-API (API client management) and create a new API client. CIPP shows the application (client) id and secret once; copy them together with your partner tenant id. Assign the client a role that covers the tools you want (read-only roles are enough for the list tools).
The base URL must be the CIPP API backend (the Azure Function App URL), not the address of the CIPP web front end.
CIPP checks each API client against its allowed IP range; allow the public egress IP of the environment that runs this server.
How credentials are sent to CIPP: every call is Authorization: Bearer <token> to
{X-Base-Url}/api/{Function}. With the OAuth headers the server runs the client-credentials
flow against Entra ID first; values that look like unresolved templates (${...}) are treated
as missing.
A request to /mcp without the required headers gets HTTP 401 listing them. A non-https URL
does not block tools/list; tool calls then return an invalid_argument error and the URL is
never called.
Tools
All tools return a JSON string. tenantFilter is a tenant's default domain (for example
example.onmicrosoft.com) or tenant id from cipp_list_tenants; tools that say so accept
AllTenants. userId accepts an object id or a UPN.
Paging: CIPP returns a whole list at once, so the cipp_list_* tools (except
cipp_list_user_signin_logs and cipp_list_mailbox_usage, which keep top / limit) page it
here. They take optional offset (from 0) and limit (default: as many records as fit the
response size limit) and return {items, count, total, offset, has_more, next_offset}. When CIPP
wraps the list (Results, or controls for Secure Score controls) that key is kept instead of
items. Pass next_offset as offset for the next page; when a result is cut to fit the size
limit, next_offset starts right after the last record returned, so nothing is skipped. Empty
values (null, "", [], {}) are left out of each record. cipp_list_users,
cipp_list_mfa_users and cipp_list_mailboxes also take fields (comma-separated) to return
only those fields.

Errors come back as a JSON envelope instead of an exception:
{"error": {"code": "unauthorized", "message": "CIPP returned HTTP 401 for ListTenants", "retryable": false}}code is one of not_configured, unauthorized, not_found, invalid_argument,
rate_limited, upstream_error. Reads are retried with backoff on 429, 5xx and network
errors; writes are retried only on 429, so a write never runs twice.

Tool count (47). Kept as is because the tool names are an existing contract.
Write tools. The 14 tools marked write change live Microsoft 365 tenants; their descriptions tell the agent to use them only on explicit request.
cipp_disable_user,cipp_reset_password,cipp_reset_mfa,cipp_revoke_sessions,cipp_offboard_userandcipp_delete_standard_templateare annotated destructive.Queued jobs.
cipp_offboard_userandcipp_add_scheduled_itemreport whether CIPP accepted the job, not whether it finished; CIPP failures returned with HTTP 200 are detected and reported asfailed.Passwords.
cipp_reset_passwordlets CIPP generate the new password; a caller-chosennewPasswordis rejected rather than silently ignored.Cached vs live sizes.
cipp_list_mailbox_usagereads CIPP's daily report cache (fast, whole tenant, up to 24 h old);cipp_get_mailbox_usagereads one mailbox live.Result size exception (SOP 2.5).
cipp_list_user_signin_logs(top) andcipp_list_mailbox_usage(limit) have no paging in the API, so they keep a maximum of 1000 (default 50); results are still cut to 20,000 characters with a truncation notice.Version differences.
cipp_list_bpaexists only on older CIPP versions and returns a clearnot_foundpointing tocipp_get_tenant_alignmentotherwise.
