Tools

Functions exposed to the LLM to take actions

NameDescription
inkbolt_schema_lookupA

Discover command arguments and shared graphics types. Use name index for available names. Large schemas return an outline; select a listed variant or definition, or use full:true for all reachable definitions. Read-only. The original schema command still returns the entire engine schema.

inkbolt_runA

Run any engine command through the same validated executor. Discover names and arguments with inkbolt_schema_lookup. Arguments omit command. Editing retains revision checks and durable retry receipts; source files and existing outputs are preserved.

inkbolt_asset_importA

Read an explicit local PNG, JPEG, TIFF, BMP, TGA or single-frame GIF into an immutable image store. Explicit convert_srgb supports embedded or declared RGB ICC input profiles, retaining source/profile hashes and alpha. Untagged samples require an explicit policy. Sources and existing stored bytes remain unchanged. Unsupported semantics fail explicitly.

inkbolt_document_checkA

Check retained structure, pinned resources and authored text/story overflow, including nested snapshots and overrides. Returns bounded located diagnostics with repair guidance, checked counts and explicit incomplete/skipped status. Read-only; use document.preflight to prepare a specific export.

inkbolt_document_createB

Create an empty editable vector or raster sRGB document. Returns a snapshot; does not save a file.

inkbolt_document_editA

Apply 1..64 typed operations atomically to a snapshot at expected_revision. Use add_svg to insert editable SVG fragments or documents. Discover supported operations with schema.lookup name operation and select a variant for its fields. Returns an editable snapshot and ordered changes; validates locks, resources and the complete batch. Leaves files unchanged.

inkbolt_document_inspectB

Inspect stable item IDs, hierarchy, visibility, locks, world transforms, unclipped geometry bounds and resource inventories.

inkbolt_document_inspect_pageA

Read bounded pages of selected item fields, asset/font inventories or path anchors. Cursor binds exact document content, view and page limit. Hidden/locked items are included; resources are structural inventories. Use pinned saved references to avoid resending documents.

inkbolt_document_previewB

Review a canvas, document region, selected objects or standalone artboard as PNG. Returns explicit world/pixel matrices and exact document identity. Region/object views crop the full composition, preserving render semantics and limits. Use response_format structured or preview for summary text.

inkbolt_document_queryA

Discover editable item IDs by content type, shape and inclusive geometry bounds; optionally inspect path anchors in local/world coordinates. Defaults to visible, unlocked items. Returned command indices address this document revision.

inkbolt_document_renderB

Render a bounded snapshot into straight RGBA8 hex pixels. Supply asset_root and font_root when stored resources are referenced.

inkbolt_font_importA

Read a permitted local outline font and its UTF-8 license. Publish immutable byte and license copies to an explicit store; returns a pinned descriptor.

inkbolt_session_applyA

Commit one atomic edit, undo/redo, named snapshot action or resource-binding change. Requires expected_revision and a unique request_id; same-payload retries return the original receipt without reapplying.

inkbolt_session_apply_proposalA

Commit a reviewed dry-run proposal only if revision, action and before/after content still match. Preserves atomic history, resource checks and durable retry receipts; no source or output is overwritten.

inkbolt_session_createA

Create a durable local editing session from a snapshot and resource roots. Starts session revision zero; use the same request_id for safe retries. Never overwrites another session.

inkbolt_session_diffC

Compare two committed session revisions including saved resource bindings. Rendering uses immutable captured states, releasing the database read lock first.

inkbolt_session_diff_previewA

Review immutable revisions with aligned before/after PNGs, a change mask, exact and thresholded RGBA8 deltas, source hashes, structural differences and per-side world coordinate maps. Common sRGB display view; output ICC profiles are recorded but not applied. Supports canvas, region, union-of-items and standalone artboard focus. Rejects fractional grid shifts rather than resampling. Read-only; session form captures both saved revisions in one transaction.

inkbolt_session_dry_runA

Evaluate any session action on the expected head without changing the database. Returns a content-bound proposal, predicted receipt, structural differences and optional PNG/pixel comparison. Use session.apply_proposal with the same action to commit after review.

inkbolt_session_historyA

Page committed history receipts in revision order. Set limit 1..128 and pass next_after_revision as after_revision for the next page.

inkbolt_session_publishA

Capture the expected current revision and publish its document or artboard create-only without adding an undo step. Optional receipt:{receipt_root,request_id} saves prepared output for recovery and returns the original result on retry even after the source session advances or disappears. New exports retain exact-head checks. Durable receipt backend currently requires Windows.

inkbolt_session_readB

Read the current session or a named snapshot, including document, resource roots, current revision and history depths.

inkbolt_session_receiptA

Recover the original committed document and receipt by request_id after a lost response. Current head fields are separate from the historical result.

A3.5/5.0

Scored across 22 tools

Disambiguation4/5

Each tool has a distinct role in the document/session lifecycle, but several closely related pairs exist: document_inspect vs document_inspect_page vs document_query, session_diff vs session_diff_preview, and session_apply vs session_apply_proposal vs session_dry_run. Descriptions clarify the boundaries, but an agent must read carefully to choose the right variant.

Naming Consistency5/5

All tools share the inkbolt_ prefix and use a consistent snake_case domain_action pattern, including multi-word actions like document_inspect_page and session_apply_proposal. The one generic name, inkbolt_run, still follows the same prefix convention.

Tool Count3/5

With 22 tools, the surface is on the heavy side for the apparent scope of a graphics document engine. Most tools map to real operations, but the inspect/diff/preview variants could likely be consolidated, placing this in the borderline 16-25 range.

Completeness4/5

The set covers document creation, editing, inspection, querying, rendering, previewing, publishing, full session lifecycle, receipts, asset/font import, and a generic run/schema escape hatch. Minor gaps such as explicit asset/font listing or deletion and session cleanup are largely mitigated by inkbolt_run.
