3dsmax-mcp
Provides tools for interacting with Autodesk 3ds Max, enabling AI agents to create and manipulate objects, materials, modifiers, and animations, inspect scene state and plugin classes, manage layers and groups, and capture viewport images.
Click on "Deploy Server".
Wait a few minutes for the server to deploy. Once ready, it will show a "Started" state.
In the chat, type
@followed by the MCP server name and your instructions, e.g., "@3dsmax-mcpcreate a teapot in the viewport and apply a glossy red material to it"
That's it! The server will respond to your query, and you can continue using it as needed.
Here is a step-by-step guide with screenshots.
3dsmax-mcp
This is a personal fork of cl0nazepamm/3dsmax-mcp by clone / m3org, released under the MIT License. All credit for the server, the native bridge, and the tool set belongs to the upstream author. This fork (sinushawa/MAX_MCP) tracks upstream and adds a per-module tool filter with an in-Max settings window, a local MAXScript reference index exposed as a
search_maxscript_docstool, a harvested V-Ray 7 reference, and an installer fix for running instances of 3ds Max. Fork-specific notes live in CLAUDE.md; everything below is the upstream README. Report upstream issues to the upstream project.
Connect AI agents to Autodesk 3ds Max through the Model Context Protocol.
Automate everything!
Current release: 1.6.6 — Astra Special Release — see CHANGELOG.md.
Features
160 MCP tools — For scene reads, modeling, materials, modifiers, controllers, viewport capture, procedural graphs, and plugin workflows.
Native Bridge — only 2023-2027 versions.
Introspection — discover arbitrary Max classes for all kinds of automation and scripting purposes.
Bundled agent skill — There is a bundled maxscript documentation if you want to create your own tools.

Requirements
Autodesk 3ds Max 2023–2027
Quick start
git clone https://github.com/sinushawa/MAX_MCP.git # fork; upstream: https://github.com/cl0nazepamm/3dsmax-mcp
cd 3dsmax-mcp
uv sync
uv run python install.pyChoose the MCP tool profile when prompted. Full is the default for maximum client compatibility and performance. Progressive exposes three discovery tools and loads exact operational schemas only when needed, which can substantially reduce context use for local or smaller models.
Restart 3ds Max, then connect your MCP client. The installer registers the server where it can; see Advanced configuration for manual client setup.
Update an existing install:
git pull
uv sync
uv run python install.pyTools
