Octopus Deploy Official MCP Server
Server Configuration
Describes the environment variables required to run the server.
| Name | Required | Description | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| OCTOPUS_API_KEY | No | Octopus Deploy API Key (recommended for interactive use). Generate one from your Octopus Deploy user profile. Credentials must be supplied via environment variables, not command-line arguments, to avoid exposing secrets in the host process list. If both an API key and an access token are provided, the access token takes precedence. | |
| OCTOPUS_SERVER_URL | No | The URL of your Octopus Deploy instance (e.g. https://your-octopus.com). Can be supplied via this environment variable or via the --server-url command line flag. | |
| OCTOPUS_ACCESS_TOKEN | No | Short-lived access token (Bearer token) used instead of an API key. Intended only for automated scenarios where an external system issues a short-lived token (e.g. CI/CD pipelines, machine-to-machine workflows). Do not use long-lived Bearer tokens. If both an API key and an access token are provided, the access token takes precedence. | |
| OCTOPUS_SKIP_ELICITATION | No | Set OCTOPUS_SKIP_ELICITATION=true to bypass the MCP elicitation confirmation gate for write tools entirely (intended for unattended automation). | false |
