Server Configuration

Describes the environment variables required to run the server.

NameRequiredDescriptionDefault
NOTEBOOKLM_UI_LOCALENoPicks the interface language the browser fallback reads (e.g. en, fr, de, ja). It only affects the interface locale for the browser transport and is deliberately independent of NOTEBOOKLM_CONTENT_LANGUAGE.
NOTEBOOKLM_CONTENT_LANGUAGENoDefault language for generated content (audio, video, infographic, report, presentation, data table, etc.). Accepts a BCP-47 code (es, ja, pt_BR, zh_Hans) or a name in English or in the language itself ("Spanish", "Español"); 81 languages are accepted, and an unrecognised one is refused rather than quietly swapped for another. Deliberately independent of NOTEBOOKLM_UI_LOCALE.
