# Nyan Parlor MCP Server: Tarot, I Ching & BaZi

Free, read-only [Model Context Protocol](https://modelcontextprotocol.io) server from [Nyan Parlor](https://www.tarotoper.com/en), an AI fortune-telling parlor for tarot, I Ching and BaZi. It gives AI assistants real random tarot draws and I Ching casts instead of invented ones, plus tarot card meanings, hexagram texts, BaZi (Four Pillars) charts and the Chinese zodiac 2027 forecast.

No API key and no sign-up. Questions and birth details are not saved; the host keeps standard request logs.

## Tools

| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| `draw_tarot_cards` | Draws 1–10 distinct cards from a 78-card Rider–Waite–Smith deck (crypto-random, optional reversals, optional position names). |
| `get_tarot_card_meaning` | Keywords, upright and reversed meaning, love, feelings, career and money readings, yes/no lean and advice for any card. |
| `cast_i_ching` | Three-coin casting (six tosses), with changing lines and the relating hexagram. |
| `get_hexagram` | Any of the 64 hexagrams by number, English name, Chinese character or pinyin (ambiguous pinyin returns the candidates): judgment, image, love, career, guidance and line texts. |
| `bazi_chart` | BaZi / Four Pillars chart from birth date, optional time and IANA time zone: pillars with Ten Gods and hidden stems, Day Master, five elements, luck pillars, coming years. Year changes at the Start of Spring (Li Chun). Without a birth time it computes at local noon and warns when the date sits on a solar-term boundary. |
| `chinese_zodiac` | Zodiac animal from a birth year or date (handles Lunar New Year vs. Start of Spring for January–February births) and the 2027 Year of the Fire Goat forecast for that sign. |

Every tool takes `language`: `en` (default) or `ja`. With `ja`, card and hexagram names, meanings, BaZi terms (日干・通変星・大運・空亡) and links come back in Japanese, matching [tarotoper.com/ja](https://www.tarotoper.com/ja). Japanese card names (「ソードの3」「恋人」) and hexagram names (「火山旅」) are accepted as input.

### Example

The assistant calls `draw_tarot_cards` (`count: 3`, positions Past / Present / Future), then `get_tarot_card_meaning` with `topic: "feelings"` for each card, and answers with the cards that were actually drawn.

## ChatGPT / Codex plugin

`plugin.json` + `mcp.json` + `skills/` at the repository root form a portable plugin package (server + reading skill) for the ChatGPT and Codex plugin directory.

## Agent Skill

[`skills/nyan-parlor-tarot`](skills/nyan-parlor-tarot/SKILL.md) is an [Agent Skill](https://agentskills.io) that teaches an assistant how to give a reading with these tools (choose the spread from the question, restate positions, answer first, don't flip on pushback, keep facts and guesses apart), with offline draw and I Ching scripts for use without the server.
