Tools
Functions exposed to the LLM to take actions
| Name | Description |
|---|---|
| artex_statusA | Check Web access and setup state. Uses configured Basic credentials if challenged. |
| artex_loginA | Sign in with server-side configured secrets and keep the JWT inside this MCP process. |
| artex_initializeA | Set the first ARTEX administrator password from configuration and sign in. Explicit confirmation required. |
| artex_logoutB | Clear this MCP process's Web session and cookies. |
| artex_change_passwordB | Change the ARTEX password to ARTEX_NEW_ADMIN_PASSWORD (or its _FILE). Update persistent secrets separately. |
| artex_configure_basic_authC | Change the built-in HTTP Basic gate. Replacement password comes from ARTEX_NEW_BASIC_PASSWORD or _FILE. |
| artex_find_routesB | Search Web operations by path, handler or notes. Separate query terms with spaces, e.g. 'task control'. |
| artex_callB | Call an exact registered Web route template. Supply path_params, query, and a JSON body separately. Repeated query values use arrays. For multipart use upload_files; for any full response use save_as. Streaming routes use artex_read_events. File paths are relative to ARTEX_TRANSFER_DIR. |
| artex_read_eventsC | Read a bounded window of ARTEX SSE. Returns event IDs and a log since cursor when available. |
| artex_browserC | Optional Chromium for browser-local UI. Navigate with value=/path and inspect with snapshot. Use a Playwright locator selector for actions. For drag use value as target selector; for tab use its index; for click downloads use save_as. sign_in reuses configured Web secrets. |

TDQS
Scored across 10 tools
Most tools have clearly distinct purposes: route invocation (artex_call), discovery (artex_find_routes), event streaming (artex_read_events), browser automation (artex_browser), and status. The only mild overlaps are artex_initialize vs artex_login (both establish a session) and artex_change_password vs artex_configure_basic_auth (both rotate credentials), but the descriptions make the distinction between first-run setup, normal login, app password, and HTTP Basic gate explicit.
All ten tools share a consistent artex_ prefix and snake_case, and most use a verb_noun shape (find_routes, read_events, change_password, configure_basic_auth). Minor deviations are noun-only names (artex_browser, artex_status) and bare verbs (artex_call, artex_login), but the pattern remains predictable.
Ten tools is well within the ideal range and each earns its place: session lifecycle, credential rotation, route discovery/invocation, event streaming, browser automation, and health check. There is no filler or redundant surface for what is essentially a generic web gateway.
The surface covers the full session and credential lifecycle (initialize, login, logout, change password, basic-auth config) plus discovery, invocation, streaming, and browser inspection, so an agent is unlikely to hit a dead end. Minor gaps remain: no explicit route-listing beyond search terms, and no direct tooling for managing files in the transfer directory (only referenced indirectly via save_as/upload_files).
