# HTTP Client MCP Server

A specialized Model Context Protocol (MCP) server designed to help AI assistants (like Claude) explore, search, and read codebase repositories and API specifications efficiently.

## Prerequisites

- **Node.js**: Version 18 or higher.
- **ripgrep**: High-performance search tool required for the `search_content` tool.

## Installation

You can run this server directly using `npx`:

```bash
npx http-client-mcp-server /path/to/your/repo
```

## Available Tools

### 1. `search_content`

Search for keywords or regex patterns inside files.
- **keyword**: The pattern to search for.
- **file_extension**: (Optional) Filter by file type (e.g., `ts`, `go`).

### 2. `read_api_spec`

Read large files with optional line range support.
- **filepath**: Path to the file.
- **startLine/endLine**: (Optional) Specific lines to read.

### 3. `read_specific_endpoint`

Extract a specific endpoint and method from an OpenAPI spec or Markdown doc.
- **filepath**: Spec file path.
- **endpointPath**: e.g., `/v1/users`.
- **method**: e.g., `get`.

### 4. `list_directory`

List files in a directory (ignores `node_modules`, `.git`, etc.).

### 5. `search_files`

Quickly find files by name.
